Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD) propels its vision of an equitable society with its mission of enabling women and children to improve their quality of life ensuring transparent, gender-sensitive, accountable and democratic governance; through its three inter-dependent interventions of participatory action, resource support and policy research and advocacy at different levels, for a pro-poor regime based on a Human Rights' perspective. CYSD’s key thematic areas of intervention revolve around sustainable rural livelihoods; fostering inclusive governance, advocating for a responsive state, reducing disaster vulnerability and addressing climate change concerns for the State’s development.
CYSD was instrumental in setting up early childhood care and development centres in villages without Anganwadis. Learning Without Fear campaigns for children and setting up Child Peer groups. It promotes self-help groups, functional and financial literacy for women as well as micro-level planning, panchayat resource centres, Right to Information clinics and pre-budget analysis.CYSD reaches to 2.19lac people covering 32,255 families of 725 villages in 102 GPs of 19 Blocks with geographical location of 5 tribal districts of Odisha viz., Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.
