Fight Hunger Foundation
Guide Star No. :
Fight Hunger Foundation (FHF) is dedicated to treating children with acute malnutrition, a life threatening form of hunger. In India, 6 million children suffer from acute malnutrition and are 9 times more likely to die before the age of five, compared to a normal child. It detects, treats and prevents acute malnutrition in children so they can regain their health and fulfil their potential. The organisation identifies and correctly diagnoses affected children and treats them by referring them to local health centres. Locally-trained community workers follow up with home visits to ensure children do not return to an under nourished state. Pregnant women and young mothers are also educated.
Over 12,000 severely malnourished children have been detected and referred to health centres across the three states. It has recorded a 95% cure rate for severely malnourished children in Rajasthan by giving them Medical Nutrition Therapy. In Madhya Pradesh, FHF has successfully made 38 out of 80 villages as 'low burden' on the malnutrition scale. FHF also succeeded in ensuring that 25 Anganwadis are now fully functional. It will soon commence treating 25,000 children in Rajasthan.
