Muktangan is the sole initiative of Paragon Charitable Trust. The educational model integrates school and teacher education addressing the quality gap. Its community-based, inclusive, child-centred model has evolved over 13 years in its teacher education centre and its 7 English medium municipal schools in Mumbai. Paragon Charitable Trust offers quality holistic education for 3400 children from low-income communities and has trained and employed nearly 475 women from the same communities as the children.
Out of the 774 members trained from the community, 470 are curently employed as teachers. Around 3600 children are studying in its schools wherein some appeared for SSC exams and some are with special needs. Last year it partnered with MSCERT for a pilot project, Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) in 10 Diploma in Education colleges and 50 schools and with TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences). Also partnered with LSF (Learning Space Foundation) to improve the quality of education at 271 Anganwadis & Zilla Parishad schools in rural Maharashtra.
